MIT’s Finances

Gideon Gil, Michael Greshko, and I set out to figure out MIT’s “Brown Book,” its yearly report on its finances. This is a work in progress and more visualizations are coming, but we found a number of interesting facts.

  1. Interesting insights. Would love to see the complete piece: “Still debugging… more graphs to come.”

  2. The by-supervisor data visualization is really beautiful. I think it’s most informative when you look at it by department–there are so many departments that it’s hard to grasp what each different color means when you look at them all together.
