I’ve heard a story once (on This American Life, maybe? I can’t find it) on a phone hotline that you could call in and debate issues with people that had a different viewpoint (or argued from a different set of facts). I wonder how it could be done so it adds a touch of personal info, which *could* make people less aggressive, and would allow for some common ground.
